Good Times Flailing (arms that is)

Recently, I took a trip with the family to our nearby skating rink, Skateland as it's appropiately named. I remember the good ole' days of one night stands (rated pg of course) and couple skates. Now, those days are long gone and nowadays I revel in the chance of having an ACTUAL girlfriend and more than just a one night stand.

Now, imagine what it feels like to run a mile for the first time in 7 years, in under 6 minutes. That's about how I felt after my run in with "the 13 year old speed wonder" (cool nickname huh?) For the first time since I was in Junior High, I speed skated, and boy it did not go well for me.

It started off as a chariot race first, then it turned into an all out sprint, that is, until the last two laps. As I round the third corner, the "wonder" falls of their butt. Now, this is when I cherish the fact, that someone just gave me the chance to win speed skating for the upteenth time in my life. (I was the 13 year old speed wonder back in the glory days.)

Now as I round the last few turns, I'm taking it easy. Coach always said, never take it easy to the finish, it always bites you in the butt. Well coach, you were right.

Time to put the skates up for good. Well, until this weekend when my sister throws her 3rd birthday party at the location of my latest mishap with a 13 year old wonder. Lets hope this time around, I'm a little more coordinated.

Signed,

Your neighborhood wanna-be
